Tutorials - Install Mozilla Firefox
This is how to install Mozilla Firefox, make it look good and set up the many security options. The basic Firefox browser is not that pretty and needs some tweaking to get the best out of it, Firefox is not a Windows Application it is Open Source Software which means that anybody can download and modify the code that makes it work - and build add-ons for it. The add-ons are the things that make Firefox a superb browser and allow it to be totally customisable. Firefox itself is fine out of the box but its a bit like a bog standard BMW, not exactly fast or well appointed. Happily the extras for Firefox are free. Internet Explorer users find making the switch difficult, the way to do it is to force yourself to use it for a week, then you will never go back. I hope this setup will make the process of weaning yourself off the deeply flawed Internet Explorer 6 and even worse Internet Explorer 7 less traumatic.
1. Using Internet Explorer go to this site Mozilla Home and download Firefox 3.0, do not get any other site's version, use the official Firefox browser from Mozilla's download servers. Run the installer and follow the screen shots.
2 This is the first installer screen, leave it as standard and click "next".

3. Click "Finish" when you get this message - tick Launch box first.

4. If you want to retain your favourites from Internet Explorer ensure the button (above) is ticked. Click "next
Firefox will ask if you want it to be the default browser and override Internet Explorer. Select "Yes" do not panic Internet Explorer is still present and functioning. Firefox has taken over its job and your icons will have changed to the Firefox Orange Ball logo, this is supposed to happen.
